About Me

Theresa Robertson, Ph.D., LCPC

I am a Licensed Certified Professional Counselor and certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. In addition, I have received extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and am certified by the DBT National Certification and Accreditation Association. I also have advanced training in compassion-focused therapy (CFT) with Dr. Paul Gilbert, the developer of CFT and Director of the Compassionate Mind Foundation – UK, and with Dr. Dennis Tirch, the Director of the Compassionate Mind Foundation – USA

My approach to therapy is holistic, incorporating spirituality and traditional psychological methods with the goal of promoting the healing of mind and spirit.

I received my Ph.D. from Loyola University Maryland in the Pastoral Counseling Department. My research interests include investigating the role of compassion training in improving a sense of personal meaning and purpose and decreasing negative emotions. Finally, I have a passion for social and criminal justice reform, and am an active volunteer in these movements.
